Learning to read, write and communicate effectively are key life skills which are imperative to children’s development and success in all areas of the curriculum.
Early Reading
We use Bug club Phonics to develop early reading.
Reading
In EYFS and Rear 1 reading is taught in small groups.
From Year 2, reading is taught daily as a whole class. In addition, the children read for pleasure daily and listen to class novel over the week.
Writing
When planning writing we use the bar model to help us ensure children are taught all the stages of the writing process at a stage appropriate to their needs.
